Summer Service Events

Summer Service Events

  • Mobile Food Pantry: First Saturdays, 7:00-10:00am
    • June 5
    • July 3
    • August 7
    • September 4

What to Expect
At 7:00am we’ll need a couple hands to help grab tables & other supplies out of the Wesley Center Garage. Then we’ll setup our assembly line in the main parking lot, divide up into spaced out work stations to load food into boxes, pack approx. 200 boxes of food, then around 8am begin loading food boxes into vehicles as they are directed to drive through the parking lot. We will have food handling gloves available for everyone to wear. Please wear closed-toe shoes and come dressed to be outside the whole time (so hat, sunglasses, jacket, water, etc.)

  • Decatur Cares Summer Food Program
    • Every Tuesday in June and July
    • 11:00am – 1:00pm at FUMC Decatur Fellowship Hall

What to Expect
Each summer, Decatur Cares helps provide meals to the families of students in and around Decatur ISD. Many of these children depend on the breakfast and lunch meals served by the cafeteria during the school year, meaning in the summer these families are missing a crucial food source.

Volunteers are needed to help pack groceries, eat lunch and play with children on the playground, and then help load groceries into vehicles as families leave. Volunteers will be asked to wear gloves while packaging food.

Thanks for your faithful work in this season to help us continue putting food into the hands of our neighbors facing food insecurity!
